Landspout tornadoes in Texas
Ever heard of the term "landspout tornado?" According to NOAA's National Weather Service, a landspout tornado does not appear to occur in ways that one would expect. Also compare that with a waterspout (we do live relatively near Houston and the Gulf).
Texas had a landspout tornado near Loraine, Texas (east of Fort Worth). A landspout tornado even touched down more uncharacteristically near Chicago, proving that tornadoes can pop up (or rather down!) at any time, anywhere, and during any month of the year.
